My definition of rewrites has always been to take the already existing copy and reword it with the same tone and style as most clients who want a rewrite, I have found in my experience, just want the same overall feel to say the same thing but just wants the words jumbled around a bit.

My definition of new copy is just that; new copy! Copy which engages the reader, copy which stimulates the reader to click or keep reading more; copy which is strong and interesting.

Due to this ongoing debate which I seem to encounter every few months, we do charge a lower rate for rewrites as when clients explain to us, "Well I just want the copy rewritten and it shouldn’t take you very long." Is another word for "I am cheap and won’t pay your pricing so let’s call it a rewrite BUT I expect newly written copy."

Um, yea that doesn’t fly with me. Maybe some writers would just grin and take it but after 10 years of being in this business, I don’t stand for the people who think they are "pulling" one over on the "desperate writer."

New copy is just that; new, freshly written copy.

Rewrites are taking already existing copy (no matter boring, crappy or whatever) and just reworking it to say the same thing. That is why it is called a rewrite.

When you want new, sparkingly fresh, vibrant copy, then you already know what my answer is…You got to pay for it!

So next time someone asks for a rewrite due to the price, don’t expect amazingly new copy. It’s the policy I have followed for years and no, it won’t change.

It’s more than just Lisa and I stroking each other over the accomplishment (Lisa’s back wouldn’t stand me stroking her anywhere right now, let alone she’s a married lady!) but it’s damn nice when one of our clients is being respected. To be honest, for me it’s never been a ‘we poor writers never get any respect man’, at least not in my day-to-day. Most times people are mystified enough by what I do to give me at least a begrudging respect, and I feel this writing thing, whether SEO copy, fiction, one-acts, what have you, is no different then any other talent (and yes I have blogged here about this to). It’s just a talent not unlike the ability to work on and make an engine hum or cooking a great meal; we all have our certain ‘things’.

It’s just kinda nice that what we do, our little ‘fixing’ of somebody’s engine, our own sauce if you will, has helped one of our clients. Though, hell, I’d like to think that even if I didn’t have a hand in something I am evolved enough to feel just as good for some I care about or know. A good friend of mine is an actor here in N.J. and I champion all his forays, big or small. When another friend of mine, the spectacularly talented, Zanti Misfit-fearing M. Christian publishes a new book or emails me with another of his further forays of fictional fantabulousness I am tickled beyond words. I rally round and applaud the triumphs of the people I care about and by extension do the same for PearlyWrites clients, not because I may have had a hand in the good fortune (ok, I do have an ego and it is good for business when our work sees results) but because someone is doing good that I might know even on a cursory level. Yes, it makes me even happier when Lisa can call with a good result, but really I want the whole word to be happy every sunshiny day, dude! So back to work here trying to get more clients attention and stroking myself.

We arrived a few minutes prior to my seminar after an interesting prior days of events. Besides not fully sure of where the seminar was being held up to five minutes prior, I think after the initial "nerves" of my introduction of who I am, what I do and why I was standing up teaching about adult Organic SEO, the hour class went fairly well. I did receive some feedback after the class and a few hours afterwards when I ran into some attendees. There had to be about 75-85 attendees and OF COURSE I ran out of outlines and then found some did not print both sides. To say the least, I told the class that the outline would be posted up on this site within 4 days and it will.

Little did many of the InterNEXT seminar attendees know I was dealing with just trying to stand up straight so I hope this did not show too badly. I have 2 herniated discs which is why after the seminar I found a seat outside by the pool and sat for two hours. I appreciated the help of everyone who helped me carry my bags and who kept telling me to stop carrying things as they obviously know that I just ignore my back issues. Unfortunately, due to standing up and walking around Friday afternoon, my back could not take another day of the expo which I was very disappointed about. I am very happy InterNEXT gave me the chance to teach attendees about Adult Organic SEO as I did at Cybernet Expo and hope they feel I added to their adult conference and will be asked back.

• work out a plan which fits their budget and
• see results!

I am not quick to charge a credit card or grab a check (for the ones who have met me at Cybernet Expo can also tell you) that my concern is what is going to work for your adult business and let’s see if we are a match. Some people may feel I need to stream line the process and when we get inquiries to just throw out a price; and say pay us X amount of dollars but that is not how I work or how my company works.

Would stream lining be easier? I am sure it would but then what happens if the services we offer doesn’t help a client? Due to not speaking to the client to find out their ideas, at the end it could lead to losing the client which could have been avoided due to the communication I make my priority. (AND yes you do speak to me, sometimes Ralph if you really want to )

I guess you can say I am kinda of OCD about this and I have every right to be. I mean this IS your business and your online marketing and the way visitors will see you so I think I have a good reason to be a little overly cautious.

With that said, I really enjoy being associated with Radio Dentata. Why? Because they have the same approach as us. No matter mainstream or adult, your business needs to be marketed and the basics are the same whether you are providing organic SEO techniques like blogging, article marketing, sending out press releases, podcasting, vlogging or using social media; your online brand is what will make you stand out from the rest in the big, global online world. Ranking for your targeted keywords will bring you organic traffic and a note here; keywords can be competitive so think about other keywords or combination of words which you want to be found for and attack those to start getting you ranked while still fighting for your main keywords.

We received a phone call from a potential client who said he found our site. I asked, "Oh our PearlyWrites site?" He said, "No your Adult Organic SEO site."

I may say pretty damn impressive on our part! The site has been up for 3 weeks! We ranked it organically in an adult niche market which seems to be increasing in competition every month. AND this is why we stress keywords and blogging on every show! I am telling you it works when you do it and give it a chance!
